For everyday explorers – 8-11 maj 2025
During the most delightful spring winter month in the Lapland mountains, Curam and Camp Ripan invite you to a wellness weekend. Together with local guides, you will experience the Arctic lifestyle while enjoying comfortable accommodations, fantastic food, relaxing spa treatments, and wonderful inspiration from Sara from Curam. She will guide you through several of their lovely sessions and teach you more about incorporating more self-care into your daily life.
Curam
Curam is a Swedish self-care brand and means ‘take care’ in Latin. Based on the ancient tradition of cupping that spans thousands of years, Curam brings the practice to your home, yoga studio, office, or wherever you are. With stylish design and environmentally friendly materials, we make it simple and effective for you to take care of yourself.
Cupping
Cupping is an ancient Eastern tradition (from traditional Chinese medicine) where massage cups create a vacuum to lift the skin and connective tissue. This acts as a deep-tissue massage, significantly impacting blood circulation and lymph flow, thereby affecting stagnation, mobility, waste products, the body’s recovery capacity, and healing abilities.
Curam Recovery®
Curam Recovery® class concept; where we use Eastern-inspired techniques to integrate Curam’s (static) massage cups in various positions to give the body a deep connective tissue massage, leaving you feeling centered, well-being, and calm. The combination of different positions we use to access the connective tissue, relax, and meet the stillness within, along with the cups that stimulate blood and lymph circulation and increase fluid flow, helps us release deeper tensions in the body, let go, and achieve deep relaxation to help the body find better balance and increase self-awareness.
These are who you will meet during the weekend

Where You Will Stay
Camp Ripan is a tourist facility with roots deeply embedded in Kiruna’s magnificent nature and culture. Our focus on sustainable tourism is a given, not just to preserve the beautiful surroundings but to create an experience that truly reflects Kiruna. With our low-rise construction, we spread out our comfortable and cozy hotel cabins over the land—small oases where each cabin has its own entrance, shower, and toilet, providing both privacy and easy access to all services.
As a family business, we cherish a genuine and welcoming atmosphere; we want every guest to feel at home. Our motto is to “dig where we stand,” a principle that guides both our environmental work and how we build and furnish the facility. We did not want to create a hotel that could be anywhere in the world—instead, one that truly reflects Kiruna. Inspired by the city’s three cultures—the Swedish, the Sami, and the Tornedalian—and by the natural colors and shapes that characterize the landscape, we have shaped Camp Ripan into a place that carries stories and genuine experiences, ready to welcome you to our Arctic everyday life.
“We want our guests to experience what we love about Kiruna, an experience built on consideration and respect for nature, culture, and the people who operate here. For us, long-term sustainability thinking is as important as genuine hospitality.”
Program
Thursday, May 8
The first evening together, we spend in Camp Ripan’s large tent hut where we dine and get to know each other around the campfire and then start our weekend with Curam Explore class. A class with meditation/breathing done lying down focusing on landing, breathing exercises for digestion, and promoting good sleep so we are nicely rested for new adventures.
Friday, May 9
After a good night, we welcome the day with Curam Recovery Flow class. A class focusing on gentle mobility to warm up the body and awaken the fascia and joints for the day’s tour. After breakfast, we head to Nikkaluokta, a small Sami village near the beautiful high mountain area around Kebnekaise where we will hike in the mountain area. We enjoy the beautiful views along the way. If we are lucky, we might see moose, reindeer, or other wild animals. If the weather permits, we will also stop along the way to view Kebnekaise. Our guide Ylva Sarri will share her knowledge about Sami healing traditions. We also visit the small chapel where Ylva talks about the Sami and the nature of the area.
The tour ends with a nice Curam Recovery Stretch class before returning home, where there is time for a bit of rest before the evening’s activities. We then start the evening with a 2-course dinner in Camp Ripan’s fine White Guide restaurant before moving on to the award-winning Aurora Spa where we perform the spa ritual Stävan made from local products from nature and Curam’s facial cupping ritual.
Saturday, May 10
After breakfast, we head to Abisko and the char lake. We will spend this spring winter day together with Jana Stridfeldt Bjuhr, who will share local traditions such as cooking lunch over an open fire, ice fishing (if the ice condition allows), and enjoying the most fantastic season of the Lapland mountains. In the afternoon, we have access to a wood-fired sauna on the shore of Lake Torneträsk where we do Curam’s Sauna Ritual consisting of three parts: movement, breathing, and meditation. Before heading home, we have the opportunity to stop at Lapporten and the beautiful waterfall Rakkasjokk – Silverfallet before we head back to Kiruna.
The day length in early May is a full 18 hours, and we will be able to enjoy a light and lovely evening together in the beautiful sanctuary where we eat a simple dinner buffet before we do a longer Curam recovery class focusing on landing in the senses and experiences from the day. Dynamic movements are mixed with yinyoga to experience recovery and how we ourselves can calm down our nervous system.
Sunday, May 11
Filled with experiences and new encounters, we start the day with a Curam Recovery Flow class before we enjoy a lovely breakfast in peace and quiet. We then have time for a walk in our surroundings before we tie up the weekend with a nice Curam closing ceremony in the spirit of self-care. After a communal lunch in the restaurant, it’s time to depart filled with new memories and lots of inspiration to incorporate more self-care into our lives!
