Eco friendly kitchen

It is often said that the kitchen is the heart of the home, and the same is true here at Camp Ripan. Our new eco-kitchen is a place of inspiration and joy, free from energy thieves! We utilize the latest technology in water and energy conservation, composting, and heat recovery, all to minimize our environmental impact.

Facts about our eco-friendly kitchen

Heat

No matter how your dish is cooked, all heating is done via induction, which means we only consume electricity when the food is actually being heated. All lighting uses LED bulbs with motion detectors, ensuring lights are on only when needed.

Water

Dirty pots, cutlery, and dishes must be washed until clean. Our new equipment adjusts water usage and temperature based on how dirty the dishes are, using 7 times less water than a standard dishwasher.

Composting

If there’s anything left on your plate, our modern composting machine takes care of it. All organic food waste is composted and can then be used as fertilizer to grow new raw materials. Our goal is to build our own greenhouse where we can grow new raw materials with the compost.

Cooling

We use only natural refrigerants and equipment that does not contribute to carbon dioxide emissions.

Ventilation

The heat generated in our kitchen is captured and used in other parts of Camp Ripan through our modern ventilation system.
