Trollsjön – Rissájávri

Starting from the E10 between Björkliden and Riksgränsen, you’ll hike up to Kärkkevagge, a valley marked by the inland ice. After passing an old train station and ascending a bit, you’ll be greeted with a stunning view of lush greenery and ancient, massive boulders scattered throughout the valley.

The uphill trek requires hydration and rest breaks. Enjoy the pure mountain water flowing in streams along the trail. Trollsjön, a glacier water lake, shines with a vibrant emerald color and crystal-clear waters, tempting many to cool off, even if just dipping their toes.

The route from the road to the lake is about 5 km. Summer is ideal for this hike as the midnight sun illuminates your path and the snow has melted.

Tips!

Travel light to enjoy the hike more. No need for liter bottles of water—just bring a mug (kåsa) to drink directly from the streams. Always check the weather and snow conditions, as snow may linger until July.
