The increasing number of visitors to Kiruna means that we must impose higher sustainability standards within the industry. Those of us in the tourism sector share a common responsibility to ensure that our appealing Arctic daily life is preserved for future generations and that increased tourism does not lead to the destruction or disappearance of what attracts our visitors.<\/p>\n
In March 2018, Camp Ripan, along with three other companies, Icehotel<\/strong> <\/a>and Nutti S\u00e1mi Siida<\/strong><\/a>, were the first to receive the Sustainable Arctic Destination certification. This certification is a quality mark developed by Kiruna Lapland,<\/strong><\/a> with the long-term goal of certifying the entire Kiruna area as a sustainable destination. The aim is for us to find a balance where tourism in Kiruna contributes to improving social and economic conditions while preserving environmental, natural, and cultural values. To achieve this, sustainability must become a natural and central part of the strategy for the tourism industry in Kiruna.<\/p>\n
