Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi was founded in 1989 and was the very first of its kind, the original of the world-unique invention of a hotel made of ice and snow. In addition, it is most likely Sweden’s most unique and probably also most comprehensive private art gallery.
All ice is natural ice and is harvested from the adjacent Torne River and then kept cold until construction begins in November. Every year from mid-December, it is resurrected in a new guise, carefully designed and handcrafted by around 40 artists from the many corners of the world.
Since 2016, there is also an ice hotel open all year round next to the Torne river and the place where the winter hotel is usually located. This hotel has a permanent structure, maintains a steady temperature of -5 degrees and is completely encased in snow and is. It is called Icehotel 365 and houses 18 art and deluxe suites as well as an experience room with a short movie of Icehotel over the years. Icehotel 365 also holds the world famous Icebar, which can therefore be visited all year round.
When you buy an entrance ticket with us, you are given access to freely experience all the sparkling art as it is open to visitors during the day 10.00–18.00 and only turns into a hotel for hotel guests at night.
